Returns & Refund Policy
Last updated: Septembe r2026
At mi Pantrē, we take care to prepare, package and deliver our products to the standard you expect.
Because we sell food products, our returns policy takes into account both food safety and applicable South African consumer legislation.
1. Damaged or missing items
Please check your parcel when it arrives.
If an item is damaged or missing, please notify us within 7 days of receiving your order.
Please email: info@mipentre.co.za
and include:
-
Your order number
-
Your name
-
The product concerned
-
A description of the problem
-
Photographs of the product
-
Photographs of the packaging, where applicable
We will investigate the matter and provide an appropriate resolution.
2. Incorrect items
If we have sent you the incorrect product, please contact us as soon as possible.
Where the error was made by mi Pantrē, we will arrange an appropriate remedy, which may include replacement with the correct product or a refund.
3. Unwanted or incorrectly ordered products
The previous mi butter website provided for returns of unwanted or incorrectly ordered products where the product and packaging were complete, unused and in resalable condition.
For mi Pantrē, we will continue to consider such requests subject to the nature of the product and applicable consumer law.
Because food products may be perishable, temperature-sensitive or unsuitable for resale once supplied, we cannot accept every change-of-mind return.
In particular, products that have been opened, used, consumed, improperly stored or are no longer suitable for resale will generally not be accepted as change-of-mind returns.
4. Food products and the online cooling-off period
South Africa's Electronic Communications and Transactions Act provides a general seven-day cooling-off right for certain electronic transactions, but section 44 does not apply to certain transactions involving foodstuffs, beverages and everyday-consumption goods supplied to a consumer's home, residence or workplace, or goods that are likely to deteriorate or expire rapidly.
Accordingly, the statutory cooling-off right will not necessarily apply to every mi Pantrē food purchase.
This does not remove or limit any other consumer rights that apply to defective, unsafe, damaged or incorrectly supplied products.
5. Defective or unsafe products
If you believe a product is defective or unsafe, please stop using or consuming it and contact us immediately.
The Consumer Protection Act provides an implied warranty of quality and, where its requirements are met, allows a consumer to return qualifying defective or unsafe goods within six months of delivery at the supplier's risk and expense, with the applicable remedy determined in accordance with the Act.
Please retain the product and packaging where possible, as this may assist us in investigating the matter.
6. Food-safety concerns
If you have a food-safety concern, please contact us immediately on:
071 744 2971
or
Please provide:
-
Order number
-
Product name
-
Best-before/use-by information, where applicable
-
Batch information, where available
-
Description of the concern
-
Photographs where relevant
7. Storage and handling
Customers are responsible for following the storage and handling instructions provided on the product packaging.
For butter specifically:
Once opened: keep tightly sealed in the refrigerator and use within 1–3 weeks.
For longer storage: butter may be safely frozen for 2–4 months.
A product that has deteriorated because it was not stored or handled according to the supplied instructions may not qualify for a refund, subject always to any statutory consumer rights that apply.
8. Refunds
Where a refund is approved or required by law, the refund will generally be made using the original payment method.
The time taken for the refund to reflect in your account may depend on the relevant payment provider or financial institution.
9. Exchanges
Because mi Pantrē products are food products, exchanges may not always be possible.
Where an exchange is appropriate, we will advise you of the available remedy.
10. Promotional products
Products purchased during promotions or at discounted prices remain subject to applicable consumer rights.
A promotional price does not remove a consumer's statutory rights in respect of defective, unsafe or incorrectly supplied goods.
11. How to request a return or refund
Please contact:
mi Pantrē
Email: info@mipentre.co.za
Telephone: 071 744 2971

We will assess the request and advise you of the next steps.
12. Statutory rights
Nothing in this Returns & Refund Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and other applicable South African legislation remain unaffected.
